May I be present
May my breath and my body support my endeavors
May my intentions guide me
May I be at peace
Shannon Phelan, Great Seneca Yoga Mantra
Great Seneca Yoga came to life in 2020 through live-streamed classes during the pandemic. What started as a small group of friends, neighbors and acquaintances turned into a community of yogis and the desire to meet and practice together in person. In 2022, the Great Seneca Yoga studio opened, offering in-person hatha classes, as well as private Aerial Yoga classes.
Great Seneca Yoga has been a Sixx Cool Moms Approved business since 2022.
Shannon Phelan
Shannon Phelan, E-RYT200, is the owner and sole teacher at Great Seneca Yoga. She has been practicing yoga since 2011 and began teaching in 2017.
Her style is based on Anusara Yoga, with alignment and enlightenment uppermost in mind. Classes are informative, fun and low pressure – each yogi must listen to their own body, after all!
Shannon’s desire to teach came from encouragement from her previous teacher, who saw potential and guided her to find a 200-hour yoga teacher training at Opus Yoga with Sharon Neubauer. She has also studied Yin Yoga under Braja Kishori, Aerial Yoga with Flow & Fly’s Traci Tufano and Jessie Hill, and continuing education with Tias and Surya Little of Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Shannon has previously taught yoga for private companies, gyms, the local community college and continues to teach at two local studios – Flying Buddha Studio and Opus Yoga Studio. She treasures these collaborations with other teachers in her area and highly recommends you try these studios to expand your practice!
